History
The Golf Course Builders Association of America Foundation is the charitable arm of the GCBAA. The Foundation developed to better connect the many individual benevolent and progressive endeavors that Builder and Associate members provide and to maximize those benefits in local communities, across America, and globally.

Mission
The common goal of the Golf Course Builders Association of America Foundation is to provide support for programming, from the elementary to the college level, for youth interested in the game of golf and students seeking careers in the golf industry.

The GCBAA Foundation has implemented the following missions:

1. Develop and maintain the Sticks for Kids Program to introduce the game of golf to children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to, which at the same time educates them in the rules of golf, life’s values and the environment.

2. Fund a scholarship program to encourage University students to pursue careers in the golf industry.

3. Support benevolent programs as determined by the Board of Directors which support golf causes that benefit society and the golf industry.

Our Programs
The cornerstone of the GCBAA Foundation is the Sticks for Kids Program. This youth outreach program provides golf clubs to use while learning the game, instruction on how to play the game, and life skill lessons associated with golf, including etiquette, discipline, integrity, safety, and environmental awareness. Over 400 Programs in all 50 states, 8 international military installations, and China are achieving this and more through partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association, Audubon International and Project Evergreen.

Our University Scholarship Program developed to support students in their junior or senior years who are pursuing careers in the golf industry. Selected national Universities offer degrees in construction management, turf management, professional golf management, engineering, and landscape architecture. Generous matches by GCBAA members have doubled the number of scholarships the Foundation is able to offer.

Support of benevolent golf causes which benefit both society and the golf industry are also an important aspect of the Foundation. Most recently, the GCBAA Foundation assisted the ASGCA with the publication of the 2008 edition of An Environmental Approach to Golf Course Development. The book contains case studies discussing the efforts put for by the golf industry in protecting the environment. Copies can be obtained through the GCBAA or ASGCA Executive Offices.

The GCBAA Foundation continuously strives to articulate and expand upon the benefits that golf, the golf industry, and GCBAA members give back to individuals, communities and the environment.

Governance
The GCBAA Foundation Board of Directors has a current roster of seven volunteer members who, along with their representative companies cover all segments of the golf industry.  The Directors continuously strive to articulate and expand upon the benefits that golf, the golf industry and GCBAA members can give back to individuals, communities and the environment.Visit the GCBAA website, www.gcbaa.org, for a current roster of Board Members.
