GCBAA Foundation: Sticks for Kids
Kids between the ages of 5-18 who are interested in learning and respecting the game of golf have access to a great opportunity with Sticks for Kids.
Mission: Since its establishment, the Golf Course Builders Association of America Foundation has taken a special interest in supporting under privileged children by launching Sticks for Kids, a junior golf outreach program for children who may not have the opportunity to learn and play the game.
The Program: The Sticks for Kids Program provides clubs, bags and instructors for participating courses and teaches kids not only the fundamentals of the game, but also life lessons related to integrity, safety, discipline, sportsmanship and respect for self, others and the environment. Our ongoing partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association has allowed for enhanced growth opportunities totaling over 400 programs in all 50 states, 8 international military bases and China. The GCBAA Foundation also teamed up with Audubon International and Project Evergreen to expand the environmental awareness lessons offered to programming. The Sticks for Kids Program is a positive growth experience which has served over 130,000 youth since its inception.
This program takes the kids from the classroom to the practice areas and then to the golf course. Find a facility in your area and get your kids playing today!
America’s Promise Alliance The GCBAA Foundation was invited to join the many partners of the America’s Promise Alliance in 2009. The Sticks for Kids Program supports the Alliance’s Five Promises of Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Healthy Start, An Effective Education, and Opportunities to Help Others. It is an honor to be listed among so many other organizations which also have the best interests of our youth’s futures in mind.
